Best for Beginners
This course is a good choice for beginner and intermediate golfers because of the relaxed atmosphere and the ability to find a new challenge each time you play the course. Regarded as one of Portugal’s greatest courses Monte Rei provides unparalleled service for a truly memorable experience. Situated on a sandstone cliff 200 metres above the sea, Pine Cliffs offers a wonderfully scenic course as well as expert tuition at the Pine Cliffs Academy. You can look forward to taking on the Devils Parlour, the sixth hole on the course. This Par 3 hole requires your shot to be carried almost 200 metres over a ravine. A day of golf, with equipment provided, can be as little as €99 with one of their special offers. Don’t limit yourself to golf though, Pine Cliffs also offers tennis, yoga and watersports.

Up for a Challenge
Offering three world class courses including one designed by Sir Nick Faldo, Amendoeira will provide a strategic challenge for even the best golfers. Surrounded by cacti, wild herbs and ancient olive trees you will feel firmly placed in Portugal while enjoying all these courses have to offer. In 2016 the Faldo course was named Portugal’s Best Golf Course by World Golf Awards. Espich’s vision is all about sustainability, with respect for the environment at the heart of everything they offer. They have created a wonderful course which respects and makes the most of the natural world. The resort features an 18-hole, par 72 course set amongst indigenous plant life. Can I take my own golf equipment to the Algarve, Portugal?
You can take your own equipment to Portugal but will need to confirm any restrictions and additional luggage fees with your airline. Also, if hiring a vehicle in Portugal, make sure you consider the size necessary for any equipment you bring.

Which courses are best for a group of mixed ability/handicap golfers?
Most of Portugal’s golf courses offer something for golfers of all ability levels. The Pestana resorts are great for mixed-handicap groups, with Gramacho and Vale da Pinta located at the same address you will find something challenging for everyone here.
Do I have to be a member to play at an Algarve golf resort?
Although most clubs offer memberships and subscriptions it’s not usually essential for golf-tourists. Most clubs and courses offer one-day and other temporary green fee rates but be sure to contact the club directly if you have any specific questions about rates and memberships.
Can I visit more than one course in a week?
There are so many fantastic courses and resorts in the Algarve region it makes perfect sense to play as many as possible. Car hire in the Algarve is priced reasonably and the distance between courses is short, so there’s no reason you can’t visit several courses in one week.
Can I get golf coaching and tuition in the Algarve?

Are children welcome at Algarve golf resorts?
